Spicy Broiled Mango

May 17, 2016 by Christine 3 Comments

So, I can’t take credit for this one. This is all Evan. He made broiled mango with cayenne pepper one night, and I completely fell in love. If you follow me on instagram, you may know that I am obsessed with broiled grapefruit. Something about it just feels more decadent, but it’s so easy. Same goes for this mango.

Spicy Mango and Chocolate Ice Cream

It’s perfect with a scoop of chocolate ice cream and an extra sprinkle of cayenne on top. The combination is cool, warm, sweet, and spicy all at the same time. Even better, it makes a quick and easy dessert.

Spicy Broiled Mango

It’s so simple, but it’s so good that I feel like it warrants a quick blog post, so here we are!

This combination is simple and quick to put together, yet is so beautifully complex and decadent in its characteristics - warm, cool, spicy, and sweet.
Author: thyme & toast
Ingredients
  • 1 ripe mango, peeled and sliced length-wise
  • cayenne pepper, to taste
  • Optional: chocolate ice cream
Instructions
  1. Line baking sheet with foil and preheat broiler on high.
  2. Place mango on baking sheet and sprinkle with cayenne pepper.
  3. Broil for 5-10 minutes, or until slightly browned on the edges.
  4. Remove and serve immediately with ice cream.
Notes
The amount of cayenne you use is totally dependent on how much you like/are tolerant of spice. I sprinkle about ⅛ teaspoon, but I love spicy. Start small and you can always add more!

It’s the perfect quick dessert! And looks impressive and fancy, despite taking less than 15 minutes 😉
